Video of Diddy, a 13-year-old blind cat, playing with this combo fishing rod.
This is a fishing-rod type toy with a difference: during play with the guardian, the toy is also able to be detached by the cat, enabling the completion of the hunting sequence.
The toy can be made with 3 attachable and detachable toys: a mouse, fish, or bird.
The size of each toy can be made similar to the size of a small mouse or bird.
Each toy has a loop on the end sewn into the fabric that is closed with a small piece of Velcro so the cat can remove it as shown in the video.
Texture: The texture in this video is soft, brushed cotton to simulate the soft, furry texture of a mouse.
Sound: You can place an ultrasonic squeaker in each toy to simulate the ultrasonic squeak of a mouse when playing with the toy as this is one way that cats are alerted to the presence of mice.
Movement: Attachment to a cardboard string at the end of the can enable you to play with your cat and simulate the movement of a mouse or bird along the ground or higher up in the air.

Scent: the toys are stuffed with organic catnip which is strong-smelling as well as edible.
Taste: they can break into the toy and eat the catnip.
Hunting sequence: stalking, chasing, catching, grabbing, killing and enjoying the prey. The interactive part of the play allows you to encourage the steps of the hunting sequence.
The toy can come off the string as it is attached by a loop with velcro so your cat can successfully take off their prey to lick and consume if any catnip falls out.
The toy can be reattached once your cat has finished consuming the current prey toy.

A bonus is that the toy can be made eco-friendly and biodegradable (apart from the squeaker).
